During his address, the ADDC highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of individuals with disabilities. He cited the inspiring journey of Sheetal Devi, a 16-year-old armless archer from Kishtwar, who has achieved greatness in her sport despite facing innate difficulties. The ADDC also emphasized the government’s inclusive approach, such as implementing ramp facilities at polling stations and schools to ensure unhindered participation of specially-abled persons in civic duties like voting and education.

Several other speakers highlighted the various initiatives undertaken by the government, including financial aid, free education, medical treatment, vocational programs, and distribution of motorized tricycles, all aimed at empowering and uplifting the lives of differently-abled individuals. The District Social Welfare Office urged the specially-abled to take advantage of these benefits.

The CEO also highlighted ongoing efforts to enable educational and socio-economic empowerment of persons with disabilities.

The program included screenings of inspiring films and showcasing cultural performances and extraordinary talent by students and persons with special abilities.
