Amid the scorching temperatures, don’t forget to stay hydrated.

A significant new heat wave will hit several Moroccan provinces, with temperatures ranging between 42 and 46 degrees Celsius.

The General Directorate of Meteorology (DMN) said today that these temperatures will start affecting these regions starting Monday until Wednesday.

The provinces concerned include Tata, Zagora, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, and Errachidia.

The same weather will affect the provinces of Taounate, Ouezzane, Taroudant, Sidi Kacem, Sidi Slimane, and Khemisset.

Khouribga, Settat, Fez, Serou, as well as Chichaoua, El Kelaa Sraghna, and Marrakech will also experience the intense heat.

Temperatures between 42 and 46 degrees will also hit Moulay Yacoub, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Fquih Ben Saleh, Meknes, and Khenifra next week.

Such high temperatures are typical in Morocco’s summer season. However, what is atypical is that these rising temperatures have been prevalent since April, extending through the spring and exacerbating concerns about water crisis and drought.

Morocco has been facing several challenges linked to water scarcity and drought amid dry seasons in the past five years.

The situation has gravely impacted the country’s water reserves and agriculture, leading Moroccan authorities to implement water-saving mechanisms to prevent additional damage.
