Buxton unearths game-changing copper-moly find in Arizona
Buxton Resources has made a significant discovery at its Sun Devil prospect in Arizona, revealing intense porphyry style veining and evidence of copper mineralisation. Although the prospect remains undrilled, historic rock chips have shown high copper and molybdenum levels, indicating the potential for a larger hydrothermal system with copper-molybdenum style mineralisation. The Sun Devil prospect is located just 5km away from a diamond drillhole that produced an impressive 405.38m intercept of 0.7 percent copper equivalent. Buxton’s ongoing geological reconnaissance in the area has boosted their confidence in the Copper Wolf Project, which they believe is a globally significant exploration opportunity for copper and molybdenum. Expanding their mapping efforts and surface sampling, Buxton is preparing to drill at Wolverine in anticipation of receiving permits in mid-February.
Buxton Resources CEO Martin Moloney expressed excitement about the potential of the Copper Wolf Project, stating that the company’s geological reconnaissance efforts have emphasized the vast scale of the hydrothermal system. Recent discoveries, including the shallow extension of the porphyry copper-molybdenum system at Wolverine, have further highlighted the exploration potential in the area. With rock chip samples grading as high as 14.1 percent copper and 1160ppm molybdenum, Buxton is determined to test the continuation of mineralisation at depth through a scout drilling program at Wolverine.
Buxton’s interest in the Copper Wolf area has led them to extend their footprint through additional mining claims, solidifying their commitment to the project. The Copper Wolf project, located in central Arizona, shares similarities with neighboring regions where significant copper deposits have been found. For example, the nearby Resolution deposit is estimated to be one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper resources.
As Buxton prepares for future drilling activities and exploration efforts, they hope to make progress towards their own resource estimate for the Copper Wolf Project. With the potential for a vast hydrothermal system and the high-grade copper and molybdenum samples obtained from the Sun Devil and Wolverine prospects, Buxton is optimistic about the prospects for future success.
This year is expected to bring ample news from Buxton as they continue their exploration and drilling activities, making strides in uncovering the full potential of the Copper Wolf Project.
