Indore Girl with Special Abilities Achieves High School Success

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) in India has seen a remarkable young women achieve a tremendous feat in spite of her disabilities. Gurdeep Kaur, a 32-year-old woman with physical disabilities such as blindness, hearing impairments, and muteness has crossed a huge barrier by passing her Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) exams with a 56% grade.

Gurdeep was enrolled at the Anand Service Society, an organisation focused on the development and education of the deaf and mute in the city. She needed assistance while appearing for the exams in the form of a writer appointed by taking special permission from the district administration, as Gurdeep could neither speak nor hear nor see.

Director of Anand Service Society and Gurdeep’s teacher Monika Purohit praised Gurdeep’s accomplishment and commended her family’s dedication to her education. She said that Gurdeep accomplished the feat despite the lack of a Braille book for English which her sister Harpreet helped her understand.

Gurdeep’s mother Manjit Kaur Vasu was filled with pride and joy. She revealed that Gurdeep was sent to school in Mumbai after 8th grade and has since been studying at Anand Service Society under the guidance of her teacher and family.

This story offers great inspiration to other differently-abled people. With the support from family, resources, and a keen desire to learn, it is evident that anyone can achieve their dreams regardless of their disabilities. It is also a testament to the hard work of the Anand Service Society that has made it possible for the education of Gurdeep and many other specially-abled children. With continued support and motivating stories like Gurdeep’s, they will be able to keep achieving their goals without limit.
