Indonesia is gearing up for the upcoming mega cybersecurity event, IndoSec 2023, which aims to address the rising threats of cybercrime in the country. With phishing attempts, data breaches, ransomware attacks, and malware becoming commonplace occurrences, organizations in Indonesia are facing significant financial losses, data breaches, intellectual property theft, and damage to their brand reputation.

The sixth annual edition of IndoSec will take place on August 29-30, 2023, at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place. The event has gained a reputation as the industry’s favorite over the past five years, attracting leading cybersecurity players from the region. It serves as a platform for addressing crucial business challenges, fostering partnerships, and sharing the latest counterintelligence against cyber threats.

Highlighting the importance of the event, Muhammad Neil El Himam, the Deputy for Digital Economy & Creative Product at the Ministry of Tourism & Creative Economy, Republic of Indonesia, emphasized the Indonesian government’s commitment to cybersecurity. He stated that proactive measures, robust policies, and collaborative initiatives are being implemented to enhance cyber defenses, protect critical infrastructure, and promote cyber literacy. Indonesia is now one of the fastest-growing cybersecurity markets in the world, thanks to the government’s proactive approach and the establishment of 121 Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSRIT) by 2024.

The event will also feature the IndoSec Awards 2023, which will celebrate the best cybersecurity talents across various categories in the country. The awards ceremony will take place on August 31, 2023.

IndoSec 2023 comes at a time when Indonesia has experienced over a million ransomware attacks in recent years. As a result, organizations participating in the event are continually upgrading their cybersecurity solutions to protect their critical infrastructure. The exhibition hall will showcase renowned companies such as SANS, CrowdStrike, Elitery, SentinelOne, Splunk, and many more.

Recognizing the importance of collaboration within the infosec community, Boris Hajduk, Chief Information Security Officer at Goto Group, expressed his excitement for the upcoming edition of IndoSec. He emphasized the need for security leaders to work together to protect organizations and customers in an increasingly interconnected world. Indosec provides a forum for security leaders to share information, develop solutions, and benefit the entire Indonesian ecosystem.

To ensure successful program development and increased participation, several associations, including (ISC)² Jakarta Chapter, ISACA Indonesia Chapter, iCIO Community, and the Association of Information Security Professionals (AiSP), have joined as Association Partners for IndoSec 2023.

With cyber-attacks costing companies up to $6.7 million, decision-makers and key stakeholders are eagerly participating in IndoSec 2023. They are eager to explore cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions and gain knowledge about next-generation industry topics. The organizer, Tradepass, expects over 700 cybersecurity experts, including heads of information security, risk, compliance, forensics, and cyber law from leading public and private enterprises across Indonesia, to attend the event.

By emphasizing cybersecurity resilience, privacy, data protection, and law enforcement collaboration, the Indonesian government aims to foster a secure digital future. Through research, innovation, public-private partnerships, and international cooperation, Indonesia is committed to building a trusted and thriving cyber ecosystem that ensures the safety of its citizens, businesses, and digital sovereignty.

In conclusion, IndoSec 2023 provides a crucial platform for Indonesia to tackle the rising cybercrime threats, bring the infosec community together, and showcase the latest cybersecurity solutions. With the strong support of the government, associations, and leading industry players, the event promises to strengthen cybersecurity resilience in Indonesia and drive the nation towards a secure digital future.
