Indigo Places Order for 500 Additional A320neo Series Aircraft

Indian budget airline IndiGo has ordered 500 more Airbus A320neo family planes, delivering from 2030 to 2035, in one of the largest deals ever made with the manufacturer. This brings the number of Airbus planes ordered by the carrier to 1,330. IndiGo’s CEO Pieter Elbers said the deal exemplified the growth of the Indian aviation industry, with the airline aiming to double its current fleet by 2030. IndiGo’s growth ambitions are vast, with passenger numbers expected to rise from 85 million to 100 million annually, and it is also reportedly considering an order for Boeing 787 craft.
