India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has placed a record-breaking order for 500 narrow-body planes with Airbus. It marks the largest-ever order placed by an airline with the European aircraft manufacturer. The financial details of the order have not been disclosed. This announcement by the budget carrier comes when it currently runs over 300 aircraft and has previous orders for 480 aircraft that are yet to be delivered. The firm’s 500-aircraft order is expected to be delivered between 2030 and 2035 and will comprise a mix of A320 NEO, A321 NEO and A321 XLR aircraft. Tata Group-owned Air India recently placed orders for 470 aircraft with Airbus and Boeing.
