An IndiGo flight bound for Dehradun was forced to return to Delhi airport due to a technical problem with the aircraft. The airline issued a statement stating that the pilot followed safety procedures by informing air traffic control and requesting a priority landing. The aircraft safely landed in Delhi and the passengers were informed of the situation. The airline apologized for any inconvenience caused by the incident.
This is not the first time in recent weeks the airline has faced technical issues with its aircraft. An IndiGo flight from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad was grounded on June 15 after it experienced a tail strike upon landing at Ahmedabad airport. The airline declared the aircraft out of service for necessary assessment and repairs, and the incident is currently under investigation by relevant authorities.
Despite these incidents, IndiGo continues to be India’s largest passenger airline. In May, the airline carried 20.6 lakh passengers, recording a market share of 55.3%. IndiGo operates a fleet of over 285 aircraft, including Airbus A320s, A321neos, and ATRs. The airline flies to 67 domestic and 24 international destinations.
As the aviation industry recovers from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, airlines need to ensure the safety and comfort of their passengers. IndiGo’s prompt actions in dealing with technical issues are essential to maintain customer confidence in the airline and the aviation industry as a whole.
