Indian youngster Sainyam brought home the gold in the women’s 10m air pistol competition at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Junior in Suhl, Germany. Sainyam finished atop the podium with a score of 238 in the final, defeating South Korea’s Kim Minseo who won the silver with a score of 236.0. Chinese Taip’i’s Liu Heng Yu won the bronze with a score of 216.9.
Suruchi Inder Singh also reached the women’s pistol final, finishing sixth with a score of 154.1. In the junior men’s 10m air pistol event, Amit Sharma missed out on a medal after finishing fourth, while Italian Luca Arrighi claimed the gold.
Sainyam had qualified third with 571, while Suruchi was fifth in qualifying with the same score. In men’s pistol events, Abhinav Chaudhary came close to the top eight with a qualification round score of 570, placing him ninth. Shubham Bisla finished 13th with a score of 568.
The junior men’s and women’s skeet qualification rounds began on the second day of competition, with Ritu Raj Bundela, Abhay Singh Sekhon, and Munek Battula in contention in men’s skeet, and Raiza Dhillon, Mufaddal Zara Deesawala, and Sanjan Sood representing Indian hopes in women’s skeet.
Day two of the competition has four finals on the roster, including both the mixed team rifle and pistol events.
