The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is actively searching for Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who is said to be hiding in the US. Pannun, who is the Chief of the Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) movement, has been accused of spreading terrorism in India and releasing videos urging people to attack Indian government buildings during the farmers’ protests.
The NIA’s focus on Pannun comes after the deaths of two pro-Khalistani terrorists, Avtar Singh Khanda and Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar was a close aide of Pannun and a top leader of the Khalistani Tiger Force (KTF), and was killed in Canada while being accused in a case of the NIA.
The Khalistani movement in Punjab has been gaining momentum, but with the conflicts and deaths of Khalistani extremist organizations, they have lost their roots in the UK and Canada. Sources suggest that the government aims to apprehend Pannun, along with legal advisors and another Khalistani group.
The NIA has prepared a list of 54 terrorists, with 11 being Khalistani. The shortlisted 11 terrorists include Pannun, who is on the top of the priority list for the government.
Sources also indicate that the NIA has gone to the UK to gather information regarding Khalistani groups based there, and has raised the issue of Khalistani terrorist groups in Canada, the UK, and the US.
It is crucial for the government to apprehend Pannun, along with legal advisors and another Khalistani group, as they are actively working to spread terrorism in India. The government has prioritized the apprehension of the SFJ Chief to ensure the safety and security of Indian citizens.
