India’s mobile gaming industry has experienced significant growth during the COVID-19 pandemic and is projected to become a $7 billion market by 2025, according to a report by marketing firm MoEngage. Increased smartphone penetration, lower-cost smartphones, and more affordable data plans have contributed to the rise of the mobile gaming industry in India. The country has become the world’s largest gaming market with one in five mobile gamers residing there. The current valuation of the Indian gaming industry stands at $2.6 billion, MoEngage noted. Five decacorns and ten unicorns are expected to emerge in the sector, making it highly attractive for Foreign Direct Investment compared to any other sector. Women spend 11.2 hours on average playing video games per week, while men spend 10.2 hours per week on gaming, according to the State of India Gaming Report 2022 in collaboration with Amazon Web Services.
