Defense Minister Rajnath Singh stated on Monday that people living in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will demand to be part of India. He added that Pakistan does not have any legitimate claim over the area it has occupied illegally. India’s Parliament has passed three resolutions unanimously, stating that PoK is a part of India.

During a National Security Conclave on June 26, the defense minister affirmed the government’s commitment to protecting the nation’s sovereignty, unity, and integrity. Since strict and consistent action was taken, the network of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir has significantly weakened in recent years. He further mentioned how terror funding has been curbed and supply of arms and drugs to terrorists has been ceased.

Regarding the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, he stated that the decision had connected the people of the Union Territory with the country’s mainstream, ushering in a new era of peace and progress.

In the past nine years, India has experienced a paradigm shift in security scenarios, according to Singh. India’s image in 2013-14 was that of a weak nation that permitted its adversaries to create problems, needing an update. However, today India has the ability to overcome all threats.

Singh assured that no stone is being left unturned to equip the military with the latest weaponry and modern technology, further stating that the country’s armed forces are fully capable of protecting the borders and seas. He added that Our goal is to bring our armed forces in the frontline of modern militaries.

For some time, Pakistan has tried to destabilize peace and harmony in India via cross-border terrorism. The minister also revealed how India has launched effective action against terrorism since coming to power and how the world viewed India previously before mentioning some of India’s achievements.

The joint statement released after the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with US President Joe Biden is an indication of India’s Zero Tolerance against Terrorism policy and the unmatched valour of the armed forces. Today, most countries around the world are against terrorism.

This statement comes days after Kashmiri separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani passed away, who was the face of Kashmiri resistance against India for decades.

The defense minister’s words regarding India’s stance on Kashmir comes at a time when the region remains tense, and there have been accusations of human rights violations in the region. With this statement, the government of India maintains its viewpoint that the area remains a part of India.
