For the first time, the monthly 5G smartphone sales share in India hit the 50 per cent mark in April, according to a new report by Counterpoint Research. While 5G services are still patchy in most of India since launching in October 2022, this is a significant milestone, said Research Director Tarun Pathak. The report noted that Samsung helped boost the 5G market, but it was OnePlus that emerged as the true winner, capturing a third of all 5G sales. Globally, smartwatch shipments contracted 1.5 per cent YoY in Q1 2021, but a 121 per cent growth in India’s shipments limited the decline. With a 27 per cent share, India surpassed North America to become the top-ranked region in terms of smartwatch shipments.
