New Delhi, Dec 14 – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has issued a warning to Indians seeking employment abroad, urging them to be cautious of fake job offers. The MEA advised job seekers to use the services of registered recruiting agents to ensure their safety and legality.

The advisory also addressed unregistered agencies involved in overseas recruitment, stating that their activities violated the Emigration Act 1983 and constituted human trafficking, which is a punishable criminal offense.

Reports have shown a significant increase in the number of individuals being deceived by unregistered recruitment agents through fraudulent job offers and excessive charges ranging from Rs 2 to 5 lakh.

The MEA’s warning serves as a reminder for job seekers to be vigilant and rely on established and authorized recruiting agents for their employment needs. By doing so, individuals can safeguard themselves against falling prey to scams and fraudulent practices.

In light of these developments, the MEA stresses the importance of verifying the credibility and legality of recruitment agencies before entering into any agreements. Taking such precautionary measures will not only protect job seekers but also contribute to the prevention of human trafficking, which continues to be a global concern.

The MEA’s advisory comes at a critical time when the demand for overseas employment is high, and job seekers may be more vulnerable to fraudulent agents offering seemingly lucrative opportunities.

In conclusion, the MEA’s message is clear: job seekers must exercise caution and use the services of registered recruiting agents to avoid falling victim to fake employment offers. By doing so, individuals can ensure their safety, protect their rights, and contribute to the fight against human trafficking.

The Ministry of External Affairs remains committed to assisting Indian citizens and promoting safe and legal overseas employment opportunities.
