As many as 30 Indian startups have written a letter to Google, urging the tech giant not to delist their apps or take any action against app developers until their Special Leave Petition (SLP) is heard. The SLP is scheduled to be listed before the Supreme Court on March 19. Last week, the Supreme Court refused to restrain Google from delisting apps from its Play Store, which has raised concerns among app developers and startups. The companies emphasized that any precipitative steps taken by Google would be detrimental to the ecosystem comprising startups and app developers. They also mentioned that Google had voluntarily extended its enforcement of the Google Billing Payment System and User Choice Billing in the past. The letter requested Google to exercise restraint and refrain from delisting any apps until the SLP is heard. This move comes as a setback to app developers and startups who are dependent on the Play Store. The Supreme Court’s order, if implemented, would result in the removal of their apps from the Google Play Store.
