New Delhi, February 12 (ANI): The Indian Navy swiftly responded to a distress call from the Iranian Fishing Vessel (FV) Ameen, which had sustained damages allegedly due to a collision with a merchant vessel. The FV, operating east of Duqm with six Iranian crew onboard, had suffered extensive damage, including a hull breach leading to water ingress. In a remarkable display of maritime assistance, an Indian Naval ship deployed in the North Arabian Sea for security operations provided damage control assistance and strengthened the hull, ensuring the vessel’s safe transit. Medical aid was also extended to the three injured crew members, emphasizing the Indian Navy’s commitment to the safety of all vessels and seafarers in the region.
Earlier in January, the Indian Navy showcased its firefighting prowess when the crew of INS Visakhapatnam successfully brought a fire onboard the merchant vessel Marlin Luanda under control. The Indian Navy’s firefighting team, equipped with specialist equipment, collaborated with the merchant vessel’s crew to battle the blaze. The timely response from INS Visakhapatnam and the joint effort with the MV crew resulted in successfully extinguishing the fire. The Indian Navy’s commitment to the safety of merchant shippers and seafarers remains steadfast.
