Indian External Affairs Minister Holds Discussions on Global South and India’s Strategy
Indian External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, recently engaged in fruitful discussions regarding the Global South, the concept of multipolarity, and India’s global strategy during a meeting with Munich Young Leaders. The Minister expressed confidence that the visiting leaders would cherish their time spent in India.
During the meeting, the participants delved into various topics, including the importance of the Global South, the dynamics of multipolarity, and the role of India in the G20. Mr. Jaishankar described the conversation as animated and expressed satisfaction in initiating a dialogue on India’s global strategy. In addition to the meeting with the Munich Young Leaders, Mr. Jaishankar had the opportunity to meet with Robert Maersk Uggla, the CEO of AP Moller Holdings. Moreover, Mr. Jaishankar played a vital role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s delegation during the 15th BRCIS Summit in South Africa. During the summit, the Indian External Affairs Minister engaged in talks and exchanged views with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov. The discussions encompassed a wide range of bilateral and international issues, including cooperation within the United Nations, G20, and BRICS. Both leaders expressed their commitment to further enhancing trade, economic cooperation, logistics, and financial interaction.
It is noteworthy that Mr. Jaishankar was recently re-elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Gujarat. This marks his second term in the Rajya Sabha. His appointment to the Union Cabinet in 2019 preceded his election to the upper house of Parliament.
