The Indian Cricket Team is gearing up for the Asia Cup 2023 with intensive training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The team will undergo a week-long training camp at the NCA to prepare for the upcoming tournament.
During the training camp, the players selected for the Asia Cup will focus on fitness drills and campaigns in order to fully prepare themselves for the challenges ahead. Meanwhile, after the West Indies tour, a second-string team will travel to Ireland for a series of matches.
The main team contingent, however, will stay back in India and concentrate on preparations for both the World Cup and the Asia Cup. These players, who will be representing India in both tournaments, will not participate in the three-match series in Ireland. Instead, they will be given an extended break to optimize workload management and minimize the risk of injuries.
Following their victorious 2-match Test series against the West Indies, the Indian Cricket Team will now face their Caribbean opponents in a 3-match ODI series and conclude the tour with a 5-match T20 series. Once the series is over, the main team will return to India to focus on the upcoming major tournaments.
Before heading to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup, the Indian players will spend a week at the NCA to fine-tune their skills for the tournament. The team’s first game in the Asia Cup will be against arch-rivals Pakistan.
In other news, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has scheduled a meeting in Delhi on July 27th with the 10 participating nations to discuss the upcoming tournament, set to take place in India from October 5th. This meeting follows a previous one held in Mumbai a month ago.
