Indian Cabinet Increases Support Price for Copra for 2023-24 Season, Approves Key Infrastructure Projects

New Delhi, December 27 (ANI): The Union Cabinet has announced an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for copra, benefiting Indian coconut growers. The MSP for milling copra has been raised by Rs 300 to Rs 11,160 per quintal, while the MSP for ball copra has been increased by Rs 250 to Rs 12,000 per quintal. This decision is expected to provide better remunerative returns to the farmers. In addition to the MSP hike, the Union Cabinet has also approved two major infrastructure projects. The construction of a 4.56-kilometer-long, six-lane bridge over the Ganga, connecting Digha and Sonepur in Bihar, will bridge the north-south divide in the state. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 3,064.45 crore, and it is scheduled to be completed in 42 months. Furthermore, the Union Cabinet has given the green light to the improvement and widening of a 135-kilometer stretch of the Khowai-Harina road in Tripura, aiming to reduce travel time and logistics costs between Tripura and Assam. The project will cost approximately Rs 2,486.78 crore, including a loan component of Rs 1,511.70 crore. These infrastructure developments are expected to contribute to the overall growth and connectivity of the respective regions.
