The Indian Blind Cricket Teams are set to make their first-ever appearance at the 2023 IBSA World Games in Birmingham. The anticipation for the mega event is growing, as blind cricket gears up to showcase its talent on the global stage. The tournament, organized by the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA), will see over 1250 players and officials from 70 countries participating.

A variety of sports will be featured in the games, including powerlifting, judo, goalball, football, chess, tenpin bowling, shooting, showdown, archery, tennis, and blind cricket. The Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) recently announced the captains for both the men’s and women’s teams that will represent the country. In preparation for their debut in the IBSA World Games, CABI unveiled jerseys for both teams.

CABI Chairman Dr. Mahantesh G Kivadasannavar expressed his excitement about being a part of the IBSA World Games and giving blind cricketers the opportunity to showcase their skills at the highest level. General Secretary of CABI, Shailender Yadav, also expressed his gratitude to IBSA for including blind cricket in the World Games, calling it a new beginning for all blind cricketers.

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif attended the press conference and praised the blind cricketers for excelling in their sport despite their visual impairment. He urged everyone to support the Indian team and wished them success in the tournament.

Radhika Bharat Ram, Chairperson of IBSA, expressed her privilege in being a part of the organization and highlighted the need to focus on the extraordinary abilities and talents of these young athletes, rather than their physical challenges. She wished the Indian athletes the best for the 2023 IBSA World Games and was confident that they would make India proud.

Usha International, a longstanding partner of IBSA, also praised the athletes for their determination and sportsmanship. They emphasized the importance of inclusivity and diversity in their collaboration with IBSA and their vision of promoting an active and healthy lifestyle.

The Indian Blind Sports Association, along with CABI and other sports federations, is devoted to promoting sports among the visually challenged in the country. David Absalon, Honorary General Secretary of the Indian Blind Sports Association, commended the caliber of the players representing the nation at the international meet and thanked Usha for their ongoing support.

The inclusion of blind cricket in the IBSA World Games is a significant milestone for the sport and provides an opportunity for these talented athletes to showcase their abilities. The Indian teams are gearing up for the tournament with the support of various organizations and individuals, and the entire nation wishes them success as they compete on a global platform.
