The Indian armed forces have undergone significant transformation to meet the challenges of modern warfare, according to Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari. Speaking at an event commemorating Armed Forces Veterans Day, Marshal Chaudhari highlighted the resilient spirit, leadership, and vision of veterans as the foundation of today’s armed forces. The event, held at Manekshaw Centre in Delhi Cantonment, was attended by Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar, senior officers, and veterans or their family members.
Marshal Chaudhari emphasized that the Indian armed forces are among the finest in the world, adapting to changing times to address the entire spectrum of warfare. He specifically praised the IAF, which has grown into one of the most formidable air forces globally. He attributed this development to the sustained efforts and services rendered by veterans throughout the years.
Acknowledging the importance of remembering those who sacrificed their lives for the nation, Marshal Chaudhari expressed condolences to the families affected. With a focus on supporting veterans, he noted that the IAF is diligently reaching out to each and every veteran, despite minor challenges faced during the process.
Marshal Chaudhari also provided an update on the System for Pension Administration (Raksha), or SPARSH, a web-based system for processing pension claims and directly crediting them to defense pensioners’ bank accounts. He shared that 1.85 lakh legacy pensioners have migrated to SPARSH in the past year.
Admiral Kumar, in his address, emphasized the invaluable contribution of veterans to the armed forces. He assured them that the Navy remains committed to their welfare while striving to be a combat-ready, credible, cohesive, and future-proof force. The Navy has expanded its proactive outreach program to address various issues faced by veterans, focusing on positive interaction and persistent communication.
Recognizing the legacy of experience and wisdom that veterans bring, Admiral Kumar expressed the Navy’s gratitude for their guidance, support, and suggestions. He encouraged veterans to continue providing invaluable insights to help address challenges facing both the services and the veteran community.
