Squadron Leader Nikita Malhotra of the Indian Air Force (IAF) has been honored with the prestigious Vayu Sena Medal for Gallantry on the occasion of the 75th Republic Day. As part of the Tangail formation of fighters, she played a pivotal role in the flypast over the Kartavya Path.
The formation consisted of one Dakota aircraft and two Dorniers, with Squadron Leader Nikita Malhotra piloting one of the Dornier aircraft. This remarkable achievement showcases her exceptional courage and dedication to serving the nation.
The celebrations for the 75th Republic Day kicked off in New Delhi with President Droupadi Murmu unfurling the national flag at Kartavya Path. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tribute to the fallen heroes of the Indian armed forces at the National War Memorial.
This year’s parade, based on the themes of ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat-Loktantra ki Matruka’, witnessed the participation of approximately 13,000 special guests. The parade aimed to promote ‘Jan Bhagidari’ or public involvement, allowing people from all walks of life to partake in the celebrations.
In recognition of the country’s journey to the ‘Amrit Kaal’ after the commemoration of 75 years of independence during the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ President Droupadi Murmu led the grand celebrations. The event aimed to involve citizens in celebrating the spirit of a developed India governed by democracy.
