India is on track to become a fully developed nation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by 2047, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Speaking at an event in Uttarakhand, Singh praised Modi’s steps towards holistic development, social cohesion, and efforts to instil a sense of pride in India’s heritage, traditions and values. He highlighted some of the government’s key initiatives, including the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat and the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Singh also spoke about increased opportunities for women in the armed forces and the country’s efforts to become self-reliant in the defence sector. He added that by 2027, India will become the world’s third-largest economy in terms of nominal GDP and the country is set to become one of the leading defence exporters globally.
