External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has raised concerns about tensions in the Red Sea region, where Houthi rebels have been firing missiles and damaging ships. Speaking at a townhall meeting in Nagpur, Maharashtra, Jaishankar emphasized that a significant number of Indians are employed in the global shipping business. He highlighted his conversations with global shipping companies, revealing that Indians make up the largest nationality employed in the industry. This comes amid escalating tensions in the Red Sea, with the US carrying out fresh strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen. The US and India have discussed their shared concerns over Houthi attacks and the violation of international law. The Houthi rebels, an Iran-aligned group, are carrying out attacks in retaliation for the Gaza conflict involving Israel. The situation remains tense, with the Houthis demanding an end to the hostilities in Gaza.
