India’s Union Minister for Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, has called on all citizens to embrace the National Education Policy (NEP) in both letter and spirit. Speaking after inaugurating the Virtual and Augmented Reality Centre of Excellence at IIT Bhubaneswar, he urged the academic fraternity to instill social responsibility in students and prepare them to become global citizens. Pradhan encouraged the newly-recruited faculties to follow the tenets of the NEP while reviewing academic programs of higher education institutions in Odisha. He said that the NEP is a philosophy that should be implemented in order to realize the goal of a modern and culturally-rooted India.
