Goldman Sachs has predicted that India will overtake the United States and become the world’s second-largest economy by the year 2075. This projection aligns with the country’s current growth trajectory and reflects its massive population and potential for economic development.

The airport in Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria, has recently been renamed the Olumuyiwa Bernard Aliu Airport. This change pays tribute to Olumuyiwa Bernard Aliu, the first African President of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council. Aliu served two terms from 2014 to 2017 and left a significant impact on the aviation sector.

The Akure airport is experiencing improvements in flight operations, and plans are underway for a massive project called the aerotropolis. This project, initiated by Ala Resort, aims to transform the airport into an aerotropolis city, offering a comfortable and enticing haven for travelers.

Ala Resort Ltd, in partnership with the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), is set to break ground on May 9, 2023. The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by several prominent individuals, including government officials and legal experts, indicating the project’s significance and commitment.

The aerotropolis city in Akure will be the first of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa. It has been designed to provide all the necessary amenities for comfort, including hotels, well-designed houses, orderly car parks, and a well-laid-out road network. The city will also feature a sports academy, with the Ala River flowing through it, providing a signature touch and attracting tourists seeking leisure and adventure.

Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed confidence in the success of the project, assuring travelers that the Aerotropolis City will prioritize their needs and create an exciting experience for visitors. He emphasized that the project will thrive due to the safety provided by Ondo State, and security agencies, including the state security and Amotekun Corps, will ensure the well-being of residents and visitors.

Moyosola Niran Oladunni, the Chief Executive Officer of Ala Resort, reiterated the commitment to completing the project within seven to ten years. The company aims to engage the local community and promote local content during the construction phase. Oladunni emphasized the importance of adhering to architectural designs and providing utilities such as power and gas supply for the city’s residents.

Around 14,000 skilled workers will be employed for the development of the Aerotropolis City, contributing to increased commerce and boosting the local economy. The project aligns with the vision of creating a thriving aviation hub in Akure and showcases the commitment of Ala Resort and its partners to providing a top-notch and sustainable living environment.

In conclusion, India’s expected rise as the world’s second-largest economy by 2075 is a testament to the country’s economic potential. Meanwhile, the transformation of Akure Airport into an aerotropolis city sets the stage for a prosperous and captivating destination for travelers. Ala Resort’s ambitious project highlights the commitment to local content, architectural excellence, and utility provisions. With its groundbreaking ceremony, the Aerotropolis City in Akure aims to become a flourishing hub attracting visitors and creating opportunities for economic growth.
