Lucknow, July 23: The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is determined to secure the top position for the third consecutive time in the PMAY-Urban Beneficiaries Awards 2023. This commitment aligns with the Central Government’s plan to launch the awards and the PMAY (U) State Awards for Scheme Implementation, marking the completion of eight years of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban.

To achieve this goal, the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) has been given necessary directions by the Yogi government. SUDA has also issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by forming a committee at the municipal level. Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the winner of these awards for two consecutive times and aims to achieve a hat-trick by winning the award for the third time in a row, as per a government release.

Anil Kumar, the Mission Director of SUDA, stated that the third phase of Beneficiaries Awards 2023 and PMAY (U) State Awards for Scheme Implementation is being organized to acknowledge the active participation of PMAY-U beneficiaries across the country and evaluate the progress of the scheme in the state. The Central Government has set the application deadline from June 25 to December 31. In 2019 and 2022, Uttar Pradesh was awarded the first prize in the category of states that performed exceptionally well in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Awards.

The awards are judged based on two parameters, in line with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s vision of securing the first position. The cities that excel in these parameters until the specified date will be recognized as the Best Achiever and Best Performer, respectively. The Best Performer will be assessed based on their performance until a particular month, while the Best Achiever will be awarded based on their exceptional performance in the first month in relation to the set parameters.

The state has also instructed the formation of teams at the municipal level to address pending projects. These teams will be regularly reviewed to ensure the set objectives are met, with a focus on completing projects 100 percent.

It is noteworthy that the Uttar Pradesh government’s dedication to the PMAY-Urban Beneficiaries Awards and its commitment to providing affordable housing to its citizens is commendable. As the state aims for a hat-trick in winning the award, it emphasizes the effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban and showcases Uttar Pradesh’s efforts in creating a better living environment for its residents.
