Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed at the Startup Mahakumbh event in New Delhi that India has secured a third place in the world with respect to the startup ecosystem. The count has crossed more than 1.25 lakh startups and 110 unicorns. India’s entrepreneurial landscape has now gained global attention. PM Modi emphasized the substantial contribution of these startups to the economy of the country and mainly in terms of providing employment opportunities to over 12 lakh individuals across various sectors.
PM Modi highlighted the widespread nature of this impressive startup ecosystem growth and it is not just restricted to the metropolitan areas. He commended the evolving mindset of Indians like transitioning from being job seekers to creating jobs for others.
The PM expressed optimism and said he is foreseeing the emergence of more unicorns and decacorns. He simultaneously credited initiatives like Startup India for nurturing and empowering the new entrepreneurs.
PM Modi even drew parallels between the resilience of startups and the traditional landscape of political parties. He inaugurated the startup alongside Union Minister Piyush Goyal. He acknowledged the growing participation of women entrepreneurs.
He further stated that India is committed to democratizing technology as well as ensuring inclusivity to bridge the gap between various segments of the society. He simultaneously highlighted the significant allocation of funds for research and innovation in the interim budget. The country is aimed to bolster such sectors.
As Indian startup ecosystem is growing at a good pace and getting supports from the government, the nation today stands poised to strengthening further its position as a global powerhouse of innovation as well as entrepreneurship.
