India is one of over 20 countries participating in a multinational peacekeeping exercise in Mongolia called Ex Khaan Quest 2023. The exercise, which began on Monday, is aimed at enhancing interoperability within the participating nations, sharing experience, and to train uniformed personnel for the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations. The Indian Army is represented by a contingent from the Garhwal Rifles. The 14-day exercise includes a Command Post Exercise, Field Training Exercises, combat discussions, lectures, and demonstrations. The event is co-sponsored by the Mongolian Armed Forces and the United States Army Pacific Command, and it will prepare participants for future UN peacekeeping missions, develop peace operations capabilities, and enhance military readiness. The exercise is expected to enhance defence co-operation between the Indian Army and participating countries, particularly with the Mongolian Armed Forces, and to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries.
