India secured a convincing 4-0 victory over Pakistan in a one-sided affair in Bengaluru. Sunil Chhetri scored three of the goals, while Udanta Singh added the fourth, guiding India to an easy win over their rivals. Chhetri took advantage of a defensive error from the Pakistan goalkeeper, intervening and stealing the ball in front of him to score the first goal of the match. He completed his hat-trick later with a free-kick, after being taken down by Pakistan’s Sufiyan, and converting the set-piece.
India dominated for most of the match, displaying superior technical skills and tactics to control the game. Despite making a couple of substitutions, Pakistan could not find any momentum or rhythm. The crowd was particularly boisterous towards Pakistan, making their frustration known with loud boos every time they made a substitution.
The first half ended 2-0 in India’s favor, but it was marred by a dramatic ending. Stimac, India’s manager, was given a red card for taking the ball before a Pakistan throw-in. This prompted heated exchanges between the players, with Pakistan’s manager also intervening. The game resumed after a slight delay, and India resumed their dominance, not allowing Pakistan any room or chances to mount a comeback.
India’s next match is against Nepal on Saturday, and they will be looking to carry their winning momentum to that game. Pakistan, on the other hand, will have to regroup and find a way to bounce back from this heavy defeat. The match was an entertaining and high-quality display of football, with India proving to be the better team on the day.
