India is committed to bridging the digital health divide through digital solutions and innovation to ensure universal health coverage, according to Dr. VK Paul, health member of the Niti Aayog. Speaking at the G20 meeting’s third health working group event, Dr. Paul stated that India’s digital capabilities are enablers of global economic growth and human development. He added that digital health technologies, such as telemedicine and mobile apps, can increase access to healthcare for people irrespective of their socio-economic status. The G20 Health Working Group aims to create a global digital health initiative that provides equitable access to digital tools and technologies for all concerned countries to ensure universal health coverage. This initiative would deploy digital health tools and services accessible to all citizens by 2035, said Dr. Paul. The meeting is held in Hyderabad from June 4-6, and it targets the three major priorities of the G20 health track, including digital health innovations and solutions to aid universal health coverage and improve healthcare service delivery.
