India and the UK have made a joint commitment to double their trade by 2030, according to British Acting High Commissioner to India, Christina Scott. The two countries have been negotiating a free-trade agreement since January last year, a deal that is expected to significantly enhance their bilateral trade relationship. The 10th round of negotiations is currently taking place in New Delhi, after the ninth round was held in a hybrid format in April, with officials from both sides meeting virtually and in London. During a meeting between Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Boris Johnson in Hiroshima, Japan, earlier this month, both countries reasserted their commitment to the FTA, according to Scott.
