India and Nepal have made significant progress in their power sector cooperation, according to a press release from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The two countries have agreed on an Agreement for Long-Term Power Trade, aiming to increase power exports from Nepal to India to 10,000 MW within the next decade. The leaders of the two countries have also collaborated on the development of power generation projects, transmission infrastructure, and power trade. They have expressed satisfaction at the export of up to 452 MW of power from Nepal to India and the construction of the 900 MW Arun-3 hydroelectric project in Nepal. The cooperation covers various sectors, including political, economic, trade, energy, security, and developmental cooperation.
