Amazing works of art have been discovered in a new excavation in Pompeii, the ancient Roman city buried in an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Archaeologists say the frescoes are among the best ever found in the ruins of the ancient site. On the high black walls of a large banquet hall, Greek mythological figures such as Helen of Troy are depicted. The room’s mosaic floor has more than a million individual white tiles.
