A workshop was recently held in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, aimed at improving the physical fitness of local police officials. The workshop, entitled ‘Self Promotion and Capacity Development,’ took place at the DRP Lines and will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays going forward. The event saw 100 policemen from various police stations in the city called to take part in physical examinations. Based on the results of the examinations, treatment will be provided to the officers.
The workshop was opened on the instructions of Makrand Deouskar, the commissioner of police. Several police officials and employees attended, including DCP (Headquarters) Jagdish Dawar, additional DCP Manisha Pathak Soni, and reserve inspector Deepak Kumar Patil. Attendees engaged in physical activities such as PT, yoga, and meditation. Doctors from Central Lab were also on hand to take blood samples, checking for potential health problems, while an array of physical tests were carried out covering body mass index, as well as other physical parameters. Alongside this, the medical professionals provided guidance on proper diet, exercise, and stress management so that police personnel can maintain healthy lifestyles.
The workshop is expected to help maintain the physical and mental wellness of those involved in police work in the region. The initiative from the police department in Indore is a laudable one, as it seeks to remedy the problem of physically unfit and unhealthy cops in the area. Experts recommend that police departments focus on striking a healthy work-life balance, exercise, proper nutrition, and stress-management.
