The Women for Startups workshop held at the Pampore Campus of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) has concluded. The two-day long workshop aimed at empowering women entrepreneurs in J&K and was conducted in collaboration with Startup India (DPIIT), Government of India. The session on the second day, Pitching to Investors and Incubators, offered valuable insights for entrepreneurial success and witnessed an overwhelming participation of over 150 aspiring entrepreneurs and startups.
Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), the Director of JKEDI, spoke about the significance of empowering women and expressed his gratitude to the expert team of Startup India, especially Ms. Aastha Grover, for guiding the aspiring entrepreneurs. Rahul Narvekar, CEO and Founder of the India Network, facilitated the highly anticipated session on Pitching to Investors and Incubators. During the session, Narvekar discussed various elements that contribute to a compelling pitch, such as showcasing market potential and scalability, outlining the business model, and demonstrating a strong and capable team. He also emphasized the importance of effective communication and presenting a confident and compelling narrative.
In addition to providing valuable guidance and support to the women entrepreneurs in their journey, the workshop facilitated networking opportunities for startups to connect with industry experts, mentors, and fellow entrepreneurs. Aspiring entrepreneurs and startups were presented with participation certificates at the valedictory session. The entrepreneurs who had set up stalls and sale points during the workshop were also recognized and encouraged to pursue their entrepreneurial aspirations.
During the Pitching session, two entrepreneurs were shortlisted by Rahul Narvekar for mentorship, support and funding. The exchange of ideas, experiences, and best practices provided insightful guidance in the entrepreneurial journey and helped women entrepreneurs gain insights into crafting a clear and concise business plan, and effectively communicating their vision to potential investors.
The workshop witnessed impressive participation from budding Startups & aspiring entrepreneurs and concluded with a promise of nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of women in J&K.
