The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for Gujarat in the next 24 hours. According to IMD Scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar, the monsoon is currently in the active phase, resulting in extremely heavy rainfall over the state. The rainfall is expected to exceed 20 cm and may continue at isolated places.

This heavy rainfall warning comes after a similar alert was issued on July 8 for various parts of Gujarat. The State meteorological director, Jayanta Sarkar, stated that heavy rainfall was expected in Valsad, Navsari, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli. In Saurashtra and Kutch, light rainfall was forecasted for the next five days, with only light rainfall expected in Ahmedabad.

The cyclonic circulation over south Gujarat has been persisting for the last few days, leading to significant rainfall in the region. The IMD predicts fairly widespread rainfall in south Gujarat.

The Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, spoke to Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to inquire about the flood-like situation caused by heavy rainfall in various parts of the state. Several cities in Gujarat, including Junagadh, have been affected by heavy monsoon rains, resulting in flood-like conditions.

Junagadh district witnessed devastating rains, causing cars to be washed away by rivers. The IMD has issued red, orange, and yellow alerts for various districts in Gujarat until July 24.

Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel canceled all his programs in response to heavy rains in Junagadh district and called for an emergency meeting. The floods in Junagadh have led to the loss of cattle and vehicles in residential areas.

In recent days, Gujarat has experienced relentless heavy rainfall, resulting in floods in low-lying regions of Saurashtra and Kutch. Rajkot has also faced severe waterlogging due to continuous and heavy rain.

It is crucial to stay updated with the current situation and follow any instructions or advisories issued by local authorities regarding the heavy rainfall.
