Four suspects have been apprehended by the Niger Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) for allegedly operating an illegal oil refinery in Tafa Local Government Area of the state. The suspects were found to be involved in the production of Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO), commonly known as black oil, by mixing condemned oil, crude oil, and Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The arrest was made based on reliable intelligence received by the anti-vandal squad of the command. The suspects were caught red-handed pouring crude oil into a container for further adulteration. The NSCDC Commandant, Joachim Okafor, affirmed that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement before charging them to court. He also urged the public to engage in legal and meaningful businesses to avoid facing the consequences of economic sabotage.
