Illegal Flats at High Rise Society in Noida Razed by Authority Officials, Resulting in an Attack

Noida authority officials faced a violent confrontation when they initiated the demolition of illegally constructed residential flats at a high-rise society. The Antriksh Golf View society had been subjected to numerous notices from the Noida authority regarding the unauthorized construction, along with a request for the residents to vacate their premises.

Ritu Maheshwari, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Noida authority, stated, We had already warned and served notices to the concerned builder about the legal consequences of unauthorized construction. We had also issued instructions for the demolition of the illegal structures, but the builder ignored our orders. As a result, the demolition took place on Friday. However, a few individuals engaged in a heated argument with the authority workers and attempted to obstruct their work. Maheshwari added, Legal action is being taken against the perpetrators, and a case has been registered in this matter.

Jitendra Singh, the station house officer at Sector 113 police station, explained, We were made aware that after notices were served to residents, some of them had obtained stay orders from the court to prevent the demolition of their establishments. On Friday, the authority demolished four to five houses that had failed to obtain a stay of execution. However, a scuffle broke out between the authority workers and a few residents when a JCB machine accidentally damaged a section of a house with a stay order. Based on a complaint, a case has been registered under Indian Penal Code section 186 (obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions). An investigation is currently underway.

Despite attempts to gather comments from the project in-charge of the Antriksh Golf View society, no response has been obtained.

Flats were being constructed here in violation of guidelines, benefiting the builders. Illegal construction was rampant, and it’s commendable that the authorities are taking action, said Anant Agarwal, a resident of Antriksh Golf View.

Notably, last year, builders were also accused of carrying out illegal constructions at Golf View 2, leading to the cancellation of the housing society’s occupancy certificate by the Noida authority.
