Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar, has announced that unauthorised colonies will be regularised if their streets are more than 3 metres wide and their main roads are more than 6 metres wide. Khattar revealed that a plan will be created to provide basic facilities in these areas. The aim of the state government is to make life easier for the people living within these colonies. To further ease the process, directions will be issued to start a special campaign by deputing two employees in every Municipal Council (MC) and Municipal Corporation (MC) office for work related to property ID correction.
The state government has decided to conduct surveys of every family to collect data on the total number of members and the number of unemployed and elderly people living in the household. This will help welfare schemes to reach beneficiaries more efficiently. Ration cards will also be provided to qualifying households. The government has issued around 12.5 lakh ration cards through the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP). Cards that have been removed unjustly from the system will be added back to the database. People who believe that they qualify and had previously lost their cards will need to submit their details to the local office of the additional deputy commissioner.
The Chief Minister has directed officials to make sure that families earning less than INR 1.8 lakh receive benefits from the government schemes. Khattar also expressed his sadness about the train accident that occurred in Odisha that caused the loss of many lives.
