Success is a subjective concept that evolves over time, according to Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Indore Director, Professor Himanshu Rai. Speaking at the valedictory function of the first batch of the Certificate Programme in Global Supply Chain Management, designed for armed forces officers, Rai urged attendees to embrace the lifelong learning process and network with peers in the sector.
The ceremony celebrated 49 officers from the Air Force, Army and Navy, with female officers accounting for nine of the cohort. Lt Gen PN Ananthanarayanan praised IIM’s collaboration with various nations and emphasised the importance of industries working together to deal with global challenges in supply chain management.
The complexities of global supply chain management were highlighted by Professor Prashant Salwan. Beyond labour, talent shortages and political constraints, the post-COVID era has brought new challenges, requiring officers to be equipped with the skillset to tackle such issues.
The keynote address encouraged attendees to be open to learning from each other and continue networking to maintain humility. Rai emphasised the importance of experiencing the journey beyond the end goal.
