All parties involved in the Malaysian state elections and the Kuala Terengganu by-election have been cautioned against raising sensitive issues, particularly those related to race, religion, and royalty (3R), according to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain. He emphasized that action would be taken against individuals who touch upon such topics. A special task force dedicated to 3R offenses will conduct investigations and aim to complete them within seven days. Once the investigations are finalized, the cases will be referred to the Attorney General’s Chambers. Razarudin Husain also advised all parties to refrain from provocation or causing trouble during the elections. Sufficient police personnel and officers will be deployed throughout the campaign period and post-election period to ensure safety. So far, the nomination process for the six state elections and the by-election has proceeded smoothly without any unwanted incidents. The police have deployed numerous operational teams to combat criminal activity during this period, with over 400 individuals already detained. Candidates have been urged to apply for police permits in advance for campaign activities to prevent clashes or overlapping events. Finally, an overlap in permit applications between rival candidates will result in rejection for those submitted late, as per the IGP’s instructions.
