Hyderabad, Pakistan’s HMC Mayor Kashif Ali Shoro is committed to resolving long-standing problems of the city that have been plaguing its residents for the past three decades. Shoro has pledged to take into account the opinions of businessmen in all decisions made by his administration.
The Mayor also acknowledged that the agriculture sector in Hyderabad is the backbone of the district’s economy and requires more governmental support to progress further.
The President of the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry (HCSTSI) congratulated Shoro on his appointment and stated that as a son of Hyderabad, he is well-versed in the issues plaguing the city.
However, Shoro was informed by the HCSTSI President that due to a lack of facilities in Hyderabad, only 75 out of the 300 industries in the SITE area were currently operating. These industries provide livelihoods for hundreds of thousands of people, making it a dire situation.
The infrastructure in the SITE area, like roads, drainage, and sewage lines were also found to be in poor condition. The HCSTSI President apprised Shoro of the city survey conducted by the Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) in Qasimabad and Latifabad talukas, conducted at the request of the chamber.
The HCSTSI’s private tax collection contractors were found to be extracting unreasonable taxes on traders, causing strife within the business community. HCSTSI President Shaikhani stressed the importance of all concerned departments working together to prepare and implement the 2035 master plan for Hyderabad.
To further improve the city, the business community urged the HMC to focus on SITE’s infrastructure, boost agricultural productivity, and work on resolving the issues that have been confronting Hyderabad for far too long. Shoro will need to work hard and in synergy with all parties to bring a positive and lasting change to the city of Hyderabad.
