Hunter Biden’s business associate, Devon Archer, testified before the House Oversight Committee, stating that he has no evidence of wrongdoing by then-Vice President Joe Biden. Archer’s testimony, released in transcripts, revealed that he has no knowledge of Biden altering U.S. foreign policy to benefit his son or engaging in any illegal activities.
Archer made it clear that he had no basis to know if Biden changed policy to favor his son, stating, I have no knowledge. In regards to Hunter Biden’s use of the Joe Biden brand to protect the Ukrainian energy firm Burisma, Archer testified that he had no proof to support these allegations.
Furthermore, Archer expressed agreement with the conclusion that Hunter Biden’s role on the board of Burisma had no impact on U.S. foreign policy. He also stated that he was unaware of any wrongdoing by Joe Biden regarding his son’s business dealings.
During his deposition, Archer mentioned around 20 phone calls where Hunter Biden would put his father on speakerphone in the presence of business associates. However, Archer clarified that these conversations were merely casual exchanges focusing on topics such as the weather or fishing rather than official business matters.
Nevertheless, Archer acknowledged that these phone calls were intended to convey access and power to others. He believed that without Hunter Biden’s association with Burisma, the company would not have survived.
Archer also described two dinners attended by Hunter and Joe Biden in Washington, where some foreign business executives and politicians were present. He stated that Joe Biden did not discuss any business matters during these meals.
The release of Archer’s testimony provides Republicans with details about Hunter Biden but does not support their claims of wrongdoing by Joe Biden. Democratic lawmakers, including Reps. Jamie Raskin and Dan Goldman, have argued that the investigation into the Bidens has revealed no direct evidence implicating Joe Biden in his son’s business dealings or any illegal activities.
In response to Archer’s testimony, Raskin stated, President Biden was never involved in Hunter’s business dealings, never profited from such dealings, and never took official action in relation to these business dealings.
The transcripts also highlighted the notion that Hunter Biden was selling the illusion of access rather than actual influence with his father. Archer confirmed that Hunter and Joe Biden spoke frequently but insisted that nothing substantial was discussed.
While Archer’s testimony provides some insight into Hunter Biden’s business activities, it does not support the allegations made by Republicans. The release of the transcripts reinforces the Democrats’ position that there is no evidence of wrongdoing by President Joe Biden.
