Huawei’s Seeds for the Future program recently celebrated youth innovation in Qatar with an exciting event hosted by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. This regional ceremony, held under the patronage of Qatar’s Communications Regulatory Authority, aimed to develop local talent, share knowledge, increase awareness in the ICT sector, and foster a digital community for young ICT talents.

A total of 175 students from prestigious universities across 15 Middle East and Central Asia countries participated in the first phase of the Seeds for the Future program in Doha. Among them, 16 Qatari students from various institutions, including Qatar University, Hamad bin Khalifa University, Qatar Community College, and the University of Doha for Science and Technology, showcased their exceptional skills and talents.

The first phase of the program included Tech4Good, a regional competition that focused on empowering and engaging youth in driving positive change within their communities. Participating students presented their Tech4Good projects to the judges, and from the impressive pool of participants, seven outstanding teams comprising a total of 40 students were selected to advance to the second phase of the Tech4Good program. This second phase is scheduled to take place in Dubai, UAE, from September 10th to 16th, 2023. The qualifying teams represent Qatar, UAE, Jordan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan.

Alex Zhang, CEO of Huawei Technologies LLC, expressed gratitude and appreciation for Qatar’s hospitality in hosting the first phase of the Middle East and Central Asia leg of the Seeds for the Future program and Tech4Good competition. He extended his heartfelt thanks to the sponsor, Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), and all valuable partners who contributed to the success of the event. These partners include Qatar’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Qatar Tourism, Qatar Foundation, Vodafone, and Aspire Zone.

Dr. Salem Al Naemi, President of the University of Doha for Science and Technology, stated that in the era of digital transformation, developing ICT learning and digital skills has become an integral part of strategic planning in Qatar. The aim is to nurture young talents and equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel and lead in their future careers.

Eng. Hussain Salatt, Public Relations and Communication Unit Manager at CRA, expressed his pleasure in attending the closing ceremony of the Seeds for the Future program. He lauded the successful completion of the first phase, which brought together exceptional talents from 15 countries representing the Middle East and Central Asia region.

The Seeds for the Future program provides an invaluable platform for young talents in the ICT field to showcase their skills, innovate, and contribute to their communities positively. With the support of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the program aims to nurture local talent, foster knowledge-sharing, and create a vibrant digital community. As the Tech4Good competition moves on to its next phase in Dubai, the participating teams have an exciting opportunity to make a difference and drive positive change through their innovative projects.

The celebration of youth innovation through Huawei’s Seeds for the Future program in Qatar highlights the country’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and forward-thinking ICT sector.
