Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) has made the decision to demolish 1,088 economically weaker section (EWS) homes in Sector 47 and monetize the valuable land on which they stand. The land is located next to the district center and a proposed Metro station, making it prime real estate. According to officials, a high-rise complex will be built in Sector 9 to accommodate the displaced EWS residents.

The EWS homes were constructed in 2010, but due to various eligibility issues, they have remained unoccupied for the past decade. As a result, HSVP has decided to utilize the land for more profitable ventures. Approximately five acres of land in Sector 9 have been designated for the construction of a multi-storey group housing complex, where the EWS allottees will be relocated.

Vikas Dhanda, estate officer one of Gurugram HSVP, highlighted the value of the land in Sector 47 and its potential for residential projects. He stated that the land, spanning around 18 to 20 acres, is particularly attractive due to its proximity to the district center. Furthermore, a large IKEA mixed-use commercial project is being developed in the area. The land in Sector 47 will be auctioned for group housing purposes, and the EWS allottees will find their new residences in the Sector 9 project.

Balpreet Singh, HSVP administrator in Gurugram, affirmed that the proposal to monetize the land in Sector 47 is under consideration. He assured that alternative accommodation will be provided to the EWS allottees in Sector 9.

In a related development, the senior town planner of Gurugram has contacted the Citizen Resource Information Department of the state government to verify the documents of the EWS allottees. This step is crucial in order to determine the rightful beneficiaries and allot the homes accordingly. The department has received a staggering 18,000 applications for the 6,200 flats available in the EWS category.

An official from the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has confirmed that they have written to the concerned department, urging them to expedite the identification of the actual beneficiaries. This is necessary to ensure a swift allocation of the flats. The DTCP’s direction follows a meeting with representatives of the EWS allottees who expressed their desire for an early allocation of the flats.

In conclusion, the HSVP’s decision to demolish the EWS homes in Sector 47 and monetize the land has been met with mixed reactions. While the prime location presents an opportunity for lucrative ventures, it also highlights the issue of eligibility faced by the EWS allottees. Efforts are being made to resolve these concerns and provide alternative accommodation for the displaced residents.
