Fears about noisy contractors have sunk plans to extend a hotel near to Redcar seafront. The Park Hotel’s controversial proposal to convert a residential property in Granville Terrace into an annex with an additional 14 bedrooms has been rejected. The Redcar and Cleveland Council’s regulatory committee turned down the plans despite planning officers recommending approval. Local residents raised concerns about the potential noise, increased footfall, limited parking space, strains on the drainage system, and impacts on the character of the area. The Park Hotel, which already has a seven-bed annex, attracts a variety of guests including vacationers and contractors. Despite its profitability, the council prioritized preserving the picturesque row of homes in Granville Terrace. Two abstentions and a majority vote led to the rejection of the application.
