Chocolate bars sold at Mansfield market which have allegedly left some people hospitalised were Cali Gold bars, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA). A news alert posted on the FSA website said the organisation is urging people not to eat the chocolate bar.

It also said that police had arrested one person in connection with the incident. The news alert included a photograph of a gold-wrapped bar.

The gold packaging in the FSA’s photo is pictured next to an apparent outer packaging, made of cardboard and with Cali Gold branding on it. The packaging says that the bar is 70% dark chocolate, organic and fair trade.

The Food Standards Agency’s full statement said: The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is urging people not to eat a chocolate bar called ‘Cali-Gold’, which has been available for sale at Mansfield Market in Nottinghamshire.

We are working with relevant authorities to find out whether there has been wider distribution of this product. This follows police reports of illness in the Nottinghamshire area after consuming these products. The police have arrested one person in connection with the incident.

The Food Standards Agency’s Head of Incidents Tina Potter said: We are working with local authorities, the UK Health Security Agency and Nottinghamshire Police to investigate an incident following reports of illness after eating Cali-Gold chocolate.

If you have purchased ‘Cali-Gold’ chocolate from Mansfield Market in Nottinghamshire you should not consume the product and dispose of it at home. If you have already eaten it and developed symptoms, then you should urgently seek medical attention.

The FSA’s warning comes after a number of people were reportedly hospitalized due to consuming the Cali Gold chocolate bars sold at Mansfield Market in Nottinghamshire. The FSA has issued an alert, urging the public not to eat the chocolate bars.
