Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation has donated $210,000 to South Carolina organizations that focus on child welfare, arts education, and food insecurity. The foundation, which operates as a donor fund under the Central Carolina Community Foundation, aims to support organizations working in these areas. This year, seven organizations across the state have been chosen to receive the funding.
Since its establishment in 2000, the foundation has been committed to evening the playing field in educational funding and providing assistance to those in need. The selected nonprofits will receive $10,000 per year for three years, resulting in a total contribution of $30,000 per organization.
The beneficiaries of this year’s donations include FoodShare Williamsburg in Williamsburg County, The Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach in Horry County, Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center in Lexington County, Lowcountry Orphan Relief in Richland County, Palmetto Place Children and Youth Services in Richland and Lexington Counties, Pick 42 Foundation, Inc. in Marion County, and Saluda County School District One in Saluda County.
Funds for these donations are raised through the Hootie & The Blowfish Foundation’s annual golf tournament and the highly successful Monday after the Masters event. With the continued success of these fundraising initiatives, the foundation has been able to increase its annual giving to support charities in South Carolina that address various needs.
