Honda Activa, the popular scooter brand from Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), has achieved a new milestone by crossing three crore units in sales. It is no secret that the Indian two-wheeler market is one of the biggest in the world with a significant preference for budget commuter motorcycles over scooters. Despite this, Honda Activa has managed to capture a strong grip on the Indian scooter market, surpassing all its contemporaries.

Honda Activa has been a success story ever since the first edition was launched in India in 2001. It has been a popular choice among the Indian customers, with unparalleled popularity and trust that has set a new benchmark in the Indian scooter market. The Activa 110cc and 125cc have now sold a whopping three crore units, exemplifying Honda’s dominance in India.

The first crore units were sold in 15 years since its inception. However, the next two crore were sold in half the time, making it clear that Activa has a tremendous impact on the Indian scooter market. The latest achievement is a testament to the unwavering support and trust that Indian customers have placed in the brand.

Mr. Tsutsumu Otani, the President, CEO & Managing Director at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, expressed his pride and gratitude for the journey of the Honda Activa. He thanked all three crore customers who trusted and placed their faith in the brand. Mr. Yogesh Mathur, the Director, Sales & Marketing, emphasized their commitment to providing the best possible experience to their customers. He added that with Honda Activa’s changing avatars based on evolving customer needs, the company would continue to innovate and introduce groundbreaking technologies.

The Activa has undergone many transformations since its launch. The first-gen Activa was launched in 2001, followed by the 110cc engine variant in 2008 and the Activa 3G in 2014. Honda launched its first-ever 125cc Activa in 2014, followed by LED headlights and DRLs with Activa 5G in 2017. The Activa 6G was launched in 2019 to celebrate the 10th year of Activa, followed by the BS6 transition with a silent starter and a host of other features. The latest addition is the 2023 Activa, which is Honda’s first-ever electric scooter.

In conclusion, Honda’s Activa has set a new benchmark in the Indian scooter market. It has captured the Indian consumer’s trust and loyalty, which is a significant achievement. With Honda’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, the company is poised to maintain its dominant position in the Indian scooter market in the years to come.
